திருப்பதி லட்டை ஒரு காலத்தில் 'மனோகரம்' என்று அழைத்தார்கள். தினமும் உத்தேசமாக 6ஆயிரம் கிலோ கடலை மாவு, 12 ஆயிரம் கிலோ சர்க்கரை, 750 கிலோ முந்திரி பருப்பு, 200 கிலோ ஏலக்காய், 500 லிட்டர் நெய், 30 கிலோ எண்ணெய், 500 கிலோ கற்கண்டு, 600 கிலோ உலர்ந்த முந்திரி மற்றும் 50 கிலோ பாதாம் பருப்பு ஆகியவை பயன்படுத்தப்படுகின்றன. இந்த பொருட்களுக்கு மட்டும் உத்தேசமாக ரூ.12 லட்சம் செலவாகும். ஒரு லட்டு சராசரியாக ரூ.10க்கு விற்கப்படுகிறது. வி.ஐ.பி.களுக்கு கூடுதல் விலையில் லட்டு விற்கப்படுகின்றன.

கடந்த 2006ம் ஆண்டில் லட்டு விற்பனை மூலம் 75 கோடியும், 2007ல் 103 கோடியும், 2009ல் 125 கோடியும் வருமானமாக கிடைத்தது. கோயிலுக்குள் தரிசனம் முடிந்து வரும் பக்தர்களுக்கு வழங்கப்படும் பிராசதமாக தரப்படும் லட்டு 100 கிராம் எடையுடையது. இதை கோயிலுக்குள் உள்ள 'பொடு' என அழைக்கப்படும் மடப்பள்ளியிலேயே பாரம்பரியமாக அர்ச்சகர்கள் தயாரித்து வருகின்றனர். கடந்த 300 ஆண்டுகளாக இந்த பணி நடப்பதாக கூறப்படுகிறது. இந்த லட்டை 'கல்யாண லட்டு' என்றும் சொல்வார்கள். இது அரைக் கிலோ எடை கொண்டது. லட்டு தயாரிப்பு பொருட்களும், தயாரிக்கப்பட்ட லட்டுகளும் கிரேன் மூலமாக வினியோக இடத்திற்கு எடுத்துச்செல்லப் படுகிறது. லட்டு தயாரிப்புக்குரிய வாசனைப் பொருட்கள் கொச்சியில் கொள்முதல் செய்யப்படுகிறது. மற்ற பொருட்கள் ஏல முறையில் வாங்கப்படுகிறது.

பாம்புகளைப்பற்றி சுவையான செய்திகள்...

உலகளவில் 2,968 வகையான
பாம்புகள் உள்ளன. இதில்,
இந்தியாவில் மட்டும் 276
வகை பாம்புகள் உள்ளன.
தமிழகத்தில் உள்ள
பாம்பு வகையில்
நான்கு மட்டுமே விஷமுள்ளது.
மற்றவை விஷமற்றது. அவைகள்
நல்லபாம்பு, கட்டுவிரியன்,
கண்ணாடிவிரியன் மற்றும்
சுருட்டை விரியன் .
நல்லபாம்பு: பழுப்பு, மஞ்சள்
அல்லது கறுப்பு நிறங்களை கொண்ட
நல்ல பாம்பு படம் எடுக்கும்
தன்மை கொண்டது . ஒரு மீட்டர்
நீளத்தில் பருவமடையும் இந்த
பாம்பு 2.2 மீட்டர் நீளம்
வரை வளரும். இவைகள்
எலி வலை மற்றும் கரையான்
புற்றுகளில் வாழும் . நல்ல
பாம்பின் விஷம்
நரம்பு மண்டலத்தையும், சுவாச
மண்டலத்தையும் தாக்கி மரணம்
விளைவிக்கக் கூடியது .
சென்னை மற்றும் புறநகரில்
இவைகள் பரவலாக காணப்படுகின்றன.
கட்டுவிரியன்: இரவு நேரங்களில்
மட்டுமே இரை தேடி செல்லும் இந்த
வகை பாம்பு மேல்புறம்
பளபளக்கும் கறுமை நிறத்துடன்
வால் வரை தொடரும் மெல்லிய
வெள்ளைக் குறுக்கு கோடுகளும்
காணப்படும் . பாம்பின்

வெள்ளை அல்லது மஞ்சள் நிறம்
கொண்டதாக காணப்படும் . இதன்
நாக்கு வெளிர்
சிவப்பு நிறத்தில் இருக்கும்.
இது 1.75 மீட்டர் நீளம்
வரை வளரும். கரையான் புற்று,
எலி வலை, கற்குவியலில் இவைகள்
வாழ்ந்தாலும் நிலத்தில் வாழும்
பாம்புகளுக்கு மட்டுமே வீரியம்
அதிகம் . இந்த பாம்பின் விஷம்
மரணத்தை ஏற்படுத்தக் கூடியது.
சென்னை மற்றும் புறநகரில்
குறைந்த அளவே காணப்படுகிறது.
கண்ணாடி விரியன்:
இரவு நேரத்தில் காணப்படக்கூடிய
இந்த பாம்பின் தலை முக்கோண
வடிவில் இருக்கும் . கண்ணின்
பாவை நெடு நீள
வடிவத்திலிருக்கும்.
பழுப்பு அல்லது மஞ்சளம் கலந்த
பழுப்பு நிறத்தில் உள்ள இந்த
பாம்புகளின் மேல்புறம்
பழுப்பு அல்லது மஞ்சள் நிற வட்ட
வடிவம் காணப்படும் . இது 1.80
மீட்டர் நீளம்
வரை வளரக்கூடியது. முட்புதர்
மற்றும் மலைப் பகுதிகளில்
அதிகம் காணப்படும் . மிக நீளமான
விஷப் பற்களை கொண்ட இந்த
பாம்பிம் விஷம் இதயத்
திசுக்களையும் , ரத்த ஓட்ட
அமைப்பினையும் தாக்கி மரணம்
விளைவிக்க கூடியது . இந்த
வகை பாம்பும் சென்னை புறநகரில்
மிகக்குறைந்த
அளவே காணப்படுகின்றன .
சுருட்டை விரியன்: இந்த
பாம்பின் கண்கள் மிகப்பெரியதாக
காணப்படும் . வெளிர் மற்றும்
அடர் பழுப்பு செந்நிறம்,
சாம்பல் அல்லது மணல்
நிறத்துடன் உடலின்
மேற்புறத்தில்
வளைவு வடிவங்களை கொண்டு காணப்படும்.
இதன் தலையின் மேற்புறம்
அம்பு வடிவம் காணப்படும். 50
செ.மீ., நீளத்தில் பருவமடையும்
இந்த பாம்பு 80 செ.மீ., நீளம்
வரை வளரக் கூடியது. வறண்ட பரந்த
நிலப்பரப்புகள் மற்றும் அதிக
மழை பெய்யும் மலைப் பகுதிகளில்
அதிகம் காணப்படும் . பகல்
நேரத்தில் இந்த பாம்புகள்
மரப்பட்டைகள் ,
கற்களுக்கு இடையிலும்
கற்றாழை போன்ற செடிகள்
அடியிலும் காணப்படும் . இந்த
பாம்பின் விஷம் ரத்த
